01Overview
The story
A local delivery company was managing its drivers through phone calls and WhatsApp messages. I built a React Native app for the drivers and a simple web dashboard for the office, both connected to the same server. One codebase runs on Android and iOS.
02Features
What I built
- 01Today's orders in one list, in the best order to deliver them
- 02Live driver locations on a map for the office team
- 03Proof of delivery with a photo and a signature
- 04Instant notifications for new or changed orders
- 05Works offline and syncs as soon as the signal is back
03Challenge
No signal on the road
The problem
Drivers often lost their network connection, and deliveries marked during that time went missing.
How I solved it
The app now saves every action on the phone first and sends it to the server the moment the connection comes back.
04Challenge
Phones running out of battery
The problem
Sharing the location every few seconds drained phone batteries before the shift was over.
How I solved it
Location updates now slow down while the van is parked and speed up only while it's moving — tracking stays accurate and batteries last all day.
